transitions
My oldest is going to school, and this weekend he missed going. Gradually, from September 5, he has been dealing with not being at home with us, and liking school. I miss him. He cried each day of the first week, although he told me the only thing he didn't like about school was lunch--too noisy. And said after the second week that he wished that the weekends were 5 days, and he went to school for 2 days. Now, he wanted to go back to school on Saturday.
Students in his school recieved % rates in the 80s last year, which compared to other schools in Chicago, is REALLY good. Although I have difficulty with some of the things he is coming home with(behaviors, comments about content in various classes) I am concerned and have met with the Principal in hopes of changing some of the things I see as problems. He has been put into a gifted program, which means LOTS of homework, including the first day of school. I have mentioned, and hope the school implements a version of the Virtue's Project, and the Read to Feed program from Heifer International.
Now, my baby girl, seems VERY interested in potty-training. At least 1 a day she asks to be put on the toilet. The other day it was 6 times! She is a phenomenon. I need to work carefully with her to instill the relationship I had with Kayhan at this age...she is SO independent...my second son spent Labor day weekend with his Grandpa by himself!! And was reported as being "a delight!!" And, he really is.
The other night both the boys decided to draw eyeglasses onto themselves...they looked so funny. They are reading, looking at books A LOT right now. I love it.
My husband has quit his job. His day job. The job he has gone to almost every day for the past 10 years. He will stop going on Tuesday. The day his boss returns home from being overseas. It is a very good thing, and a scary one as well. I am preparing myself for going back to work. I really don't want to leave the kids, and am not ready for the stress of a daily 9-5 job--maybe I will go through the same transition period as my kindergartener.
May God assist us and you.
