"knowing oneself"

The tag questions:
1. Name a few things or activities that lift your spirits and really get you going.
2. Name a few things or activities that drain all of the tension out of your body and mind.
3. What helps you get or stay focused?
4. Are there any things you've tried and taken off the list?

My husband and I are going to answer this together as thoughts randomly cross our minds, in no particular order except Selvi's outline:
1. spending unlimited(without children) time in the library, going to the House of Worship in Wilmette, spending time in a pristine natural environment...grasping the earth between my bare toes...feeling the sun upon my face, and warm rain upon my back...a refreshing breeze on a humid and hot summer day...serving/teaching children, seeing the service of others, a smile genuinely spread across the face of another...spending time in a movie theatre seeing thought-provoking artistic and respectful films...music which brings diverse elements/musicians/instruments together...actually anything which serves as an artistic bridge between cultures...rising above the earth in an airplane/seeing ourselves as insignificant in this vast creation...travel and learning about others...seeing an old couple holding hands or exchanging a loving glance...realizing a fault in myself and understanding the path to changing it...

2. a really good backrub/massage...that wasn't emphasized enough !!!!!!!!! MASSAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!...ok there may be other things...let us see...my husband says I should be honest but not tell you what he feels drains all the tension...and is the source of our mass production of 3 cute children...a hot, deep bath in the middle of the night when there are no time limits...accomplishing the goals of the day...gaining confirmations that an action/s were on the right path...having a clean house

3. time for reflection...housework/artistic handicrafts which keep the hands busy but the mind free to contemplate...catastrophies in the world or the personal lives of friends/family...celebrations/joy in the world or in the personal lives of friends/family because it makes me stop to think...reading the Writings from Baha'u'llah, 'Abdu'l-Baha(me), and poetry(both of us), our children are a constant reminder of why we must succeed and do what is best/right...

4. For me TV, but my husband says that he never looked at TV as a way to relax.

Kisses.
